First Trailer for 'The Cabin In The Woods' (Now with Forcefields)

The Collider:
Producer Joss Whedon and director/co-writer Drew Goddard have been coy about how The Cabin in the Woods turns the eponymous horror sub-genre on its head. The first trailer for the movie has gone online and now we can see what they meant. The Cabin in the Woods genre usually revolves around something supernatural with only a mystical explanation as a vague guide. Judging by the trailer, it looks like Whedon and Goddard have thrown together the scientific in the supernatural. It was an approach Whedon took in the fourth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but instead of Frankenstein, Cabin looks something more along the lines of Hostel where hapless tourists are subjected to the sadistic whims of a shadowy organization. That organization also has forcefields.

This movie is nothing like what I was thinking it was going to be like...it is freaking awesome! I can't wait to see it...should have known I'd be surprised...good ole Joss Whedon does it every time.

I have no idea what I just watched.

alycakes4518d ago

Exactly...that's why I'm so interested. I thought it was going to be one of those Holloween or Friday the 13th, Wrong Turn, type movies but it's not....this is going to be something completely different.

I don't know exactly what yet but I do know it's not what anyone expects it to be....but I'll bet it's going to be good.

pomoluese4518d ago

I hope so. I think I'll wait until it comes out on DVD though. Maybe I'll be convinced otherwise when it gets closer to release.

They showed the previews on tv last night. There is something going on like someone is doing an experiment on people because they looked like they were running some high tech equipment and watching these guys and gals and they went thru whatever they put them thru.

DarkBlood4517d ago

so like *correct me if im wrong* to the victims its some sort of horror ish?

but to whoever is manipulating the events its an experiment?

alycakes4517d ago

It sure looked that way to me but don't get me wrong...it was so fast paced that everything that was happening was so confusing...but I did see some people handling a lot of high tech stuff at one point.
