'Tomb Raider' Reboot Inspired By 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes'

Digital Spy:
Tomb Raider producer Graham King has revealed that he took inspiration from Rise of the Planet of the Apes for the Lara Croft franchise reboot.

King told Digital Spy that he has received a script from Iron Man screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.

"We're going through [the script] creatively, bringing in directors to talk to and then I get that horrible job of sitting with 25-30 young girls that want to play Lara Croft," he said.

Legend of Chun Li was supposedly inspired by Batman Begins, so I'll take this with a pinch of salt.

Really? I didn't know that. I guess every writer and directer has his own way of doing things and they all have different inspirations of some sort. I thought they were redoing the first Tomb Raider but what they are really trying to do is a prequel to show Laura Croft before when she was younger.

so angelna is pretty much still the main Raider then :P?

From the article he said it was going to be back when she's looking for her parents. I never read the comics so I'm not even familiar with it being that far back but it was before she became a relic hunter.

I didn't even know it was a comic, was the comic before the games?

alycakes4526d ago

I'm not sure but I do know the comics have been around for a while. I'm not a gamer so can't help on that one.

top cow made the comic based on the games, it did pretty well for a while, fifty issues over about six years, that's not including spin offs, crossovers, and secondary titles, of which there were a few.

Olivia Wilde for the role!!!!

Lord_Sloth4525d ago (Edited 4525d ago )

Oh hell yes! I don't care HOW shitty the film is, I'll watch it just because she's in it!

pomoluese4526d ago

A reboot that's not tied to the new game seems like it will be weird if the two origin stories are completely different. Then again movies based on games are usually bad.

I hope Caesar doesn't make an appearance.
