Let me preface this by saying that I love Tim and Eric’s bizarro-surrealist sketch comedy shtick, and when I write “WTF?” I don’t necessarily mean it in a bad way. It’s just… what else can be said about the new ultra-brief teaser for Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie? What reactions other than “WTF?” did these evil comic geniuses even intend?
Movies Hate You Too writes:
For June Netflix has added a decent assortment of new and catalog releases to its streaming lineup. Several critically acclaimed films from 2011 have entered the stream in addition to several worthwhile coming of age comedies, several horror films of varying quality, and some films I can only qualify as “so bad they’re good.” Lastly, a few other fan favorites have made their way back to the Netflix Streaming after briefly disappearing most likely due to contract negotiations.
Jeremy of We Got This Covered wrote, "Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim star in Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, which is the dumbest film I’ve seen all year. It lacks any real comedy and spends most of its time on the duos weird sense of “humor” that somehow appeals to a large audience. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve never watched the show or heard of the pairing before this movie, but the movie is a dud and a waste of time. The only time it becomes almost watchable is during the occasional cameo, in which real actors provide real jokes."
Engages in a tiresome pattern of dragging out innately humorless verbal gags well beyond the breaking point, like a comedian trying get laughs from an audience that has already left the club.
