How Super Mario Bros. Went Awry

IGN

The $2 million deal for producer Roland Joffe to bring the video game Super Mario Bros. to the big screen was after he sent packages of tea to Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi. It was a seemingly pleasant start to a film now branded by The Guardian as "the Heaven's Gate of video game movies."

Interesting article, although I can't help but think that it cuts itself off a little too early. Seems like there's more to tell.

I thought so too. Seemed like there was alot more to the story but he wasn't able to get them down.

It must suck to make a bad movie and have that stand out more than any of their other work. That seems to be whats happening with all the Twilight people too. 20 years down the line they'll still be embarrassed.

DO my eyes deceive? A girl who isn't in love with the Twilight Series? I can't say I haven't seen the movies, because I've seen them with my wife who enjoys them and honestly I watch these with her because she tolerates alot of my stuff. It's hokey and even a lil cheesey yes but I don't think that any of the people in the Twilight movies should be ashamed of their roles in the series.

They've made millions off their parts in the movies and have even been afforded more opportunities then they likely would have had were it not for the Twilight series.

That gender stereotype that all girls like Twilight is stupid, none of my girl friends like Twilight. However, the commentary from Rob Pattinson on it is hilarious from what I've seen.

I'm just saying acting-wise they're horrible, but it wasn't their fault it was the directing like with Star Wars. The other day my friend posted a video for Snow White and people were judging k-stew.

HAHAHA! Don't be angry. I don't know a single guy(well.....maybe one but he's a lil more on the feminine side) who likes the movies but I do know lots of chicks who dig the series. Not my fault if the stereotype fits.

Stereotypes always fit some people, that's why they exist, also to degrade the group that's being stereotyped.

I personally like the Mario Bros. movie. If you were going to make a legit live action mario movie, how else are you going to make it, seriously? Props to them for trying.
