There’s good news and… well, more good news about this year’s race for the Best Animated Feature Oscar. First, the number of submissions — 18 — exceeds the minimum of 16 required for a year of five nominees. (Last year only netted 15 submissions, and thus three nominees, as if anybody was going to knock off Toy Story 3 anyway.) And with a soft year for the likes of both Pixar and DreamWorks Animation, that means the field is pretty wide open for the first time in a while. What can win?
Here are your options:
· The Adventures of Tintin
· Alois Nebel
· Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked
· Arthur Christmas
· Cars 2
· A Cat in Paris
· Chico & Rita
· Gnomeo & Juliet
· Happy Feet Too
· Hoodwinked Two! Hood Vs. Evil
· Kung Fu Panda 2
· Mars Needs Moms
· Puss in Boots
· Rango
· Rio
· The Smurfs
· Winnie the Pooh
· Wrinkles

Oscars 2023 might witness new rounds of celebrations, accolades, and the usual reminiscence of the Slapgate fiasco.

I haven;t seen most of the movies here but I would have to say The Smurfs (yes I quite enjoyed it). I suspect it'll go to Tin Tin though.
Rio or tin tin is going to win I'm guessing.
I'm sure Pixars won't win this year so it's either Tin tin or Winnie the Pooh for me.
tin tin, why? cause its tin tin and you dont want to mess with tin tin!
Some of the best animated films in the world are from Japan.
Sad that there is no "room" for them. Apparently Poland & Spain are given consideration though. Is it due to the Japanese studios not trying to submit or some stipulation that rules out any "mature" themed animated films.
Arietty The Borrower, Mardock Scramble, Legend of the Millennium Dragon all easily contend.
There is no Toy Story 3 caliber animated films this year from the US, so instead of looking for more international content films like Hoodwinked Two! Hood Vs. Evil and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked are up for best animated feature???
The Oscars are a joke and every year they get worse.
Maybe after Summer Wars (which was a brilliant film) was submitted and didn't get nominated last year Japanese studios don't feel it's worth even bothering with.
BTW my money is on Rango from what i've watched.
