Bone-idle.ie writes "It’s that time of year again when horror films appear in droves in order to sync up with Halloween and the dreary weather that comes with it. A lot of dud horrors get released at this time, with the odd gem shining through. The Awakening had the potential to be one of these gems, one of those horror films that escapes the popular mainstream idea that horror cinema is ‘low’ cinema. Sadly, while it does good work in the run up, it trips short of the finish line."

The Awakening Gets DVD and Blu-ray Release Date

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced a DVD and Blu-ray release date for The Awakening. The horror/thriller directed by Nick Murphy is set to release on Blu-ray and DVD this month. To be more specific, that would be January 29th.

The Awakening Review | Shakefire

Shakefire writes, "For every so-called ghostly encounter there are about a dozen or so hoaxes that exist. Set in 1921, The Awakening follows Florence Cathcart (Rebecca Hall) as she travels to a dilapidated boarding school that is said to be haunted by a child who died there long ago. It’s her job to debunk the case and find the culprit responsible. That is, unless there really is a ghost haunting the premises of course."
