Til Schweiger Greenlights New Film 'The Guardian'

German uber-star Til Schweiger has greenlit his latest project: a hitman thriller called The Guardian which Schweiger will produce through his Barefoot Films shingle as well as writing, directing and playing the lead.

The feature has picked up $1 million (€750,000) in production and distribution financing from German film subsidy body the FFA. Schweiger is co-writing the script with Paul Maurice. Schweiger next appears alongside Mickey Rourke and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in crime thriller The Courier from director Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now) and has supporting roles in Gary Marshall’s ensemble romcom New Year’s Eve and comedy actioner This Means War from McG starring Tom Hardy and Resse Witherspoon.
