IGN - "Mystery Vs. History" felt like How I Met Your Mother trying too hard. It was trying too hard to deliver some quirky twist on how these friends live their lives. It used to be that Slap Bets and Pie Charts and Interventions were a welcome part of these characters' lives. It's why we liked them. But lately, these quirks seem forced or elaborate or quirky for the sake of quirk. We've lost our connection to the characters, and in doing so, we've even lost the laughs.
