Warner Bros. To Make a Decision About Live-Action Akira Movie Next Week

From the start, fans really didn't want to see a live-action adaptation/remake of the popular manga comic and animated film Akira, which was created and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. Critically acclaimed anime was released in 1988. Warner Bros. has been trying to move forward with the live-action movie for a long time, but there was always something in the way. After director Albert Hughes left the project, everyone thought that might be the end of it. But studio soon found the replacement, director Jaume Collet-Serra. Since then, we haven't heard much about the film. Well, it seems that they will make a final decision sometime next week, according to Variety's Showblitz:

i think it's time they cut their losses on this one. Nothing i've read/heard about this project interests me. American Actors as the main characters just doesn't add up, moving the locale to "Neo-New York" is also a nonsensical move.

Either kill the project or retool it from the ground up and do it right.
