Disney to Add 'Avatar' Attractions to Theme Parks

The Collider:
Did you ever wonder what it would be like form a lifelong telepathic bond with a flying creature only to ditch it for a bigger and more powerful flying creature? Now you can! Variety reports that Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Worldwide will create themed lands based on James Cameron’s Avatar. The first theme land will be built at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom park in Orlando, Florida. Cameron, Jon Landau and their Lightstorm Entertainment group will serve as creative consultants on the projects and will work with Disney’s “Imagineers” to oversee the design and development of the different theme lands. I look forward to “Cramped Trailer with Giant Tanning Beds”-Land.

Wonder why they didn't go with the more kids friendly Avatar Original, I mean Fern Gulley? :P

JL4210d ago

lol Watched that the other day. Batty is hilarious in there.

Had you not seen Fern Gully until recently?! That would just be a tragedy!

JL4209d ago

Nah I had seen it before. Several times. First saw it way back when I was a kid and seen it many times since then. Just it was on HBO the other night and I rewatched it.

Hmm, could be kind of interesting, depending on how they handle it. Still, I can't say that I'm all that excited about it.

IDK about you, but I really didn't like Avatar that much...

I liked Avatar quite a bit. It wasn't a perfect movie, but it had a lot of good things going for it.

It was just something that popped in my head. They had a Tangled castle when I went this year, but it was just to take pictures with her. They could make a really kick ass roller coaster with that.

I was trying to think of other movies they could use, perhaps another Pirates ride? Oh better yet, they own Marvel now....make a Marvel theme park. Or will that get in the way of Universal studios rights?

I wasn't a fan of Tron at all, but some of the attractions they are doing at California Adventures is really neat. So I'm a little interested in what they will do with Avatar.

I think there are much better choices though. Why not Tangled? Its their recent golden gem. Or more rollercoasters would be totally awesome.

I'm starting to get worried about your Tangled obsession...you mention it all the time :)

I live very close to Disney World, so good news to me next time I decide to go there. :D Animal Kingdom needed more rides since there's simply not enough to keep you occupied for a day, but I think I'll leave that job to Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom.
