Filming today in New York, Marvel's The Avengers seems to have literally crash-landed at Park Ave and 40th.
As you can see in the below photos (which arrive courtesy of SuperHeroHype Forums members Misjuevos, Iceman and Twitter user Jef_UK), the scene appears to involve a crashed Quinjet, a mainstay of the comics since its first appearance back in "Avengers" #61.
Though most of the craft appears planned to be added in post-production, the negative space and the surrounding destruction gives a good feel for the kind of scope we'll see on the big screen when the film arrives on May 4, 2012.
