Close-Up Shots of Superman on the Man of Steel Set

SHH says:

Thanks to 'Kal-El.9859' and 'wacots', we now have some close-up shots of Henry Cavill as Superman on the Plano, Illinois set for Man of Steel.

Currently filming for a June 14, 2013 release, the Zack Snyder-directed action adventure also stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix and Laurence Fishburne.

These shots are actually really really good. They give a lot more details on the suit. I still think decision to lose the red trunks is a little perplexing but am able to overlook it.

They really jacked Cavill up too. I'm impressed that dudes arms are huge. Oh and he's punching someone. That should make the people who hated the last movie because he didn't punch anyone happier.

Finally some good shots, I was a little worried about superman not having the red trunks, but the suits looks pretty good, looks alien :)

Can't wait for this movie :)

While I love the original films and the comics, I can't say I'm sad to see the red trunks go. I like the new look. It feels far more modern.

SantistaUSA4614d ago

I agree. I'm glad they went for the changed looks, it looks pretty bad A$$!

Count me on board with liking the suit. It definitely has a more modern look and looks pretty cool. I don't at all mind the loss of the red trunks. In fact, I like the decision to take them away.

I'm also very curious to see how this turns out looking in the movie itself. It should be even better. Much like the Spider-Man costume that people whined about. Then they released actual images of footage and it looked real good.

I'm loving it. The new suit looks incredible and I'm actually glad they did away with the red trunks. It's very modern and very awesome.

Crazay4615d ago

I agree that the new suit has a sharp modern look to it but the trunks were part of the original vision of Superman and I don't see the need to change that.

Regardless - these pictures made me even more excited for the movie. I'm happy with their casting decision based on the looks and his size. I just hope they didn't do away with the Superman curl. I haven't seen any evidence that it exists in any of the images so far.

I too was more excited for the film based on these pics. I know a costume design says nothing of the film overall, but it gives me hope that they're handling everything else well.

the way the explained the change in the comics was that the red trunks were inspired by the circus strongman image, and they thought that was a bit out of date.
i can see where they're coming from.

it could do with a bit more red somewhere though, maybe a belt.

who knows if the new look will stay though, they've made redesigns of superman a few times over the years and they've never stuck.
of course they were major redesigns rather than just a relatively minor detail like the pants on the outside.

so long as he's got his S shield and the cape, you've got the two most iconic parts of the costume.

it does seem like he gets his outfit from the same place spider-man does though. ^_^

TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!

I LOVE it. Now that is a kick ass outfit!

WICKED COOL!!

I haven't decided yet...still trying to soak in that new look. I'm not sure I like it. It looks okay but it's so different. I'll keep an open mind for the movie...we'll see when the action starts if it works for me.

darklordzor4614d ago

That's what I love about it though. It is very different and much more alien. It's what a Kryptonian might wear instead of a human. I mean, look at all of the costumes he's had in the comics. This is a mild change compared to what they've done.

alycakes4614d ago

They do tend to change things up on us, don't they. I can usually live with it. It just takes me a while. I have to take my time with these things....I've always been like that.

darklordzor4614d ago

I think seeing it in action and motion always helps one get used to a new suit too.
