On July 15th 1988 Emma Morley (Anne Hathaway – The Dark Knight Rises) and Dexter Mayhew (Jim Sturgess – The Way Back) graduate from college and start a friendship that carries on long after they go their separate ways. Emma had always fancied Dexter but his womanising ways saw to it that they never really got a shot at being together. As we visit Dexter and Emma throughout the next 20 years, on the 15th of July, we see that their friendship could be the only thing saving them both from a life of disappointment and unfulfilled dreams. True love struggles to couple them together until one day, circumstance finds both Emma and Dexter ready for love.
