From TMP:

Dinosaurs and the human mind may sound like topics best reserved for the Discovery channel, but that's not the case. These are the new plots for Pixar's next couple films.

Neither are sequels!

Which is awesome! For a while I was worried Pixar might be starting to ride the coattails of it's previous successes, especially after the tragedy known as Cars 2. Obviously they haven't and don't plan on giving up the originality that makes them so special. I couldn't be more excited.

Furthermore, I am really happy to finally hear about a dinosaur themed movie. I remember seeing some concept art with dinosaurs in it, in one of their interview vids a few years ago. Ever since, I have been waiting for the announcement of whatever those were for, and here we are!

And there is so much that could come from the "inside your mind" theme. I won't even wager a guess to the possible plot of that movie. Needless to say, this Pixar geek is excited.

I'm very excited for the Dinosaurs one. That could be incredibly cool, but I'm not so sure about the 'mind' one. Either way I'm glad for more 'original' Pixar movies, and can't wait for Brave next year!

all i can think about when i hear the dinosaur movie is rex from toy story, which is a big plus in my book :D

You know I actually thought the exact same thing. That was the first dinosaur I thought of, but I'm sure they'll be a little different in this movie than that.

I wish Pixar would reive that 'Newt' movie that was in the works. It looked awesome.

So many things to explore with animation, I don't see why Pixar can't open up more. Do a separate smaller studio and have them do your money making sequels, while you let the big guys do originals.

Winkle924630d ago

That's exactly what they did in April 2010. The opened Pixar Vancouver to produce shorts, tv-specials, and the occasional movie. While the Pixar in Emeryville handles the meat of the work. Just fyi.

I know but expand on it more. Game studios do it all the time. You have the newer team work with what is already there, while the other guys work on the bigger projects. Of course things like Toy Story can still be Pixar, but not everything needs to take all their time.
