TGE:
What many reviewers have said about Part 2 holds true. The acting, here, is as fine as it’s been in all 8 films. The visuals, too, are stunning in their scope and color palette. Among the few criticisms leveled against the film are yet more complaints that Part 2, more than any other film, deviates from the book in significantly noticeable ways. This is true. As a fan and follower of the books from before the phenomenon ever really started, I can attest to these changes. As a filmmaker and writer, however, I can also understand them – most of them, at least. For a good portion of the film, for instance, Yates brings his flare for gritty realism to bare.
