'Hobbit' First Look: 3 Pics

From Entertainment Weekly:

We'll all have to wait until Dec. 14, 2012, for the full fruits of director Peter Jackson's labors on his two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Hobbit. But, to tide us over, Jackson has shared the first images from his Lord of the Rings prequels with EW — and talked to us about how the fantasy epic is shaping up so far.

Man it's just so cool to see the Shire again. And Ian McKellen as Gandalf is just really neat. Jackson has once again perfectly nailed the feel of it all. Can't wait to see more!

Takes me back to Lord of the Rings.

Yep and I think that's a great thing. One of the main things I was worried about with these movies is how well they'd match up the look/feel/tone of the Lord of the Rings. Looks like they're handling it perfectly!

Hmmm, I could look forward to this. I hope it is a high quality film as the pics suggest.

Oh and one other thing. That tidbit about there being 254 shooting days...that's nuts! He even said Lord of the Rings was only 12 days longer than that and they did 3 movies, not just two. These films are going to be massive. Makes me wonder how big the extended versions are going to be.

With it being Peter Jackson I'm sure he's going to be taking the same care and time that he did with the Lord of the Rings. He won't cut corners.

Oh I'm sure, but damn that's a whole lot of filming going on. Man, makes me wonder when the hell he's going to have time to edit the first movie. I mean that's only a little more than a year from now. That boy is going to be very busy. No wonder he was so reluctant to take over the director's chair again.
