Watchmen’s Alex Tse Will Write 'The Crow' Remake

Collider Writes: Watchmen co-scribe Alex Tse has signed on to pen Relativity’s “reinvention” of The Crow. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) and potentially starring Bradley Cooper who is attached, the pic is expected to reboot James O’Barr’s Eric Draven character for moviegoers who are perhaps too indifferent to check out Brandon Lee’s stellar 1994 turn and/or gluttons for punishment. Relativity’s press release claims that the project is expected to be “gritty” but, considering that Draven is a man who returns from the grave seeking vengeance on his wife’s killer, it’s hard to conceive the iconic goth tale as coming off any other way (romantic comedy, anyone?).

I' trying to be optimistic with this movie but I can't see anything good coming from it with Bradly Cooper in the lead role. he doesn't do anything for me as an actor. I have little hope for this movie purely based on his casting.

I'm thinking the same thing. I just can't get the original movie and also the guy that played Eric in the tv series out of my head and Cooper just doesn't fit either one of them. They need to find someone more like those two characters...they were just so perfect.

Lol. The guy from the TV series is Mark Dacascos who is now the Chairman of Iron Chef America. His uncle was chariman of the Japanese Iron Chef.

One thing that I loved about the original that I don't think can be captured by anyone today, was the style. Plus, Brandon Lee's death forced the director to be more creative with what he shot especially when he first becomes the Crow and you only get quick glimpses of Lee's face.

I dunno about this new one. I'm actually surorised they didn't get one of the hundreds of lanky, sissy looking actors plaguing Hollywood.

HAHAHAH!!! Andrew Garfield for Eric Draven anyone?

CobraKai4687d ago

LMAO!! Exactly who I was thinking!!!

I just don't think Bradly Cooper is the one for the part...I like him a lot...it's just this particular part that I'm talking about that I feel they need to find someone else. Maybe someone of bigger and of stronger facial features...even if it's a new comer. Someone that looks more like Brandon Lee and Mark Dacascos.

From what I'm told the original film doesn't even come close to the greatness of the source material. Also, The Crow had a great soundtrack, I have no idea how they could possibly top it in todays lackuster musical climate.
