Sean Astin to Voice Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Comingsoon: Sean Astin ("The Lord of the Rings") has joined the cast of Nickelodeon's all-new CG-animated "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" as Raphael, one of four teenage brothers dedicated to a life battling evil denizens. Rounding out the cast are Jason Biggs ("American Pie") as Leonardo, Greg Cipes ("Teen Titans") as Michelangelo and Rob Paulsen ("Planet Sheen") as Donatello. Paulsen also voiced the original Raphael from 1987-1996 in the first series. Currently in production at the Nick Animation Studio in Burbank, Calif., the show is set to premiere in fall 2012. Executive produced by Ciro Nieli, Joshua Sternin and J.R. Ventimilia, this half-hour action-comedy series breathes new life into the wildly popular band of reptile brothers.

Oh man, when I first read this headline on ComingSoon I thought they were talking about the movie! I should have known better. Either way, it sounds like they've got quite a line up of actors for this new cartoon. Let's just hope it's good.

I think it's funny that they got the original voice of Raphael now voicing Donatello...Odd.

I got worried when I saw Jason Biggs was voicing Leonardo. Relieved to find out it wasn't the live action film.

LOL. Yeah, I'm not sure what to think of that. I can't really picture his voice as the leader of the Ninja Turtles, but I don't think it'll be too bad either. Good to know he's working though!

Yeah I like Biggs for the most part but I can't see him voicing a turtle, especially Leonardo.

He's also got that American Pie sequel coming up too so he seems to be doing pretty well these days.

He's done several indie movies and has a couple more lined up on top of this and the America Pie movie. Plus he was in that TV show that had him and Sarah Chalke, but that got axed pretty quickly I think. So, not like he's been out of work for a while or anything.

I can't imagine him doing the voice of any turtle either, though. Just doesn't seem right at all.
