Now this sounds like a fun concept. Rich Moore (TVs THE SIMPSONS and FUTURAMA) is making a feature-length CG animated film for Disney Studios called WRECK-IT RALPH. The concept is an 8-bit video game villain, Wreck-It Ralph (John C. Reilly) is getting tired of being the Bad Guy all the time, fighting against Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), so he tries to rehabilitate his image and become a Good Guy at the arcade. He jumps into a first-person shooter featuring Sergeant Callahan (Jane Lynch), but something happens in the game that releases a powerful nemesis that threatens all the games in the arcade.
I love the idea of different video game characters interacting with each other. What's unclear from the press release is if other franchised characters would appear in the film. I'd love to see Mario and Pac-Man take on the Berzerk robots. But I really like the cast, which includes Sarah Silverman as the voice of a "glitch" character from a kiddie racing game that helps Wreck-It Ralph on his quest to become a hero. WRECK-IT RALPH will be released by Disney on November 2, 2012. Here's the press release:
