Graeme (Simon Pegg – Shaun of the Dead) and Clive (Nick Frost – Hot Fuzz) are a couple of British geeks taking a summer pilgrimage to the US and the world famous San Diego Comic-Con. They decide to explore some UFO hotspots afterwards and take to the road in search of adventure. But nothing can prepare them for the startling discovery they make on route, an alien named Paul (Seth Rogen – The Green Hornet). Paul needs their help if he is to survive the night so Graeme and Clive reluctantly decide to help him out as they try to evade capture from government agents looking to kill them all.
