The Primate Perspective Review - X-Men: First Class

Primate Perspective writes:
Back in 2005 Matthew Vaughan turned his back at a shot at the X-Men franchise by jumping ship on X-Men: The Last Stand. The film would eventually fall into the lap of Brett Ratner who would direct what is considered by fans to be the worst in a series that was perfectly set up by Bryan Singer with 2000′s X-Men and 2002′s X2. Well, Vaughan is back in the director’s chair after a very successful foray into comic book territory with 2010’s superb Kick-Ass.

Like all good re-boots First Class goes a little further than the previous movies by presenting a proper back-story for Professor Charles Xavier/Professor X (McAvoy), Erik Lehnsherr /Magneto (Fassbender) and Raven/Mystique (Lawrence). This is very interesting as it shows the friendship and camaraderie that was evident between these characters from their initial origins. It is all this attention to character development that sets this above the last few X-Men related movies.
