I don't prefer 3-D because the colors always have that washed out look - transformers in particular, with it's disorienting editing and bloated runtime, sounds like a recipe for nausea.
Do not visit the Transformers toy section in stores. They already have some of the new toys out giving away some of the robots. I walked through ToysRus and I saw them. I took a deep breath & screamed in slow motion, "Nooooooooooooooooooo! lol
