Director Paul Feig, whose prior highlights include episodes of The Office and Arrested Development, invites viewers to a hilarious marriage of estrogen-fueled girly drama and broad-audience comedy. Don’t be fooled by the film’s title and primarily female cast because Bridesmaids isn’t a fluffy romantic comedy. While not overly raunchy either, the film rushes out of the gate clearly on its way to an R-rating. This also might be partially why you won’t find many of the jokes in the trailers, a welcome relief in a time when a comedy’s marketing often gives away all the best parts (ahem, Your Highness).
