Bradley Cooper in Talks to Star in 'The Crow' Remake

Heat Vision and THR says:

Bradley Cooper is in early negotiations to star in Relativity’s remake of The Crow, being directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

In the adaptation of the gritty black-and-white indie comic by artist James O'Barr, Cooper will play a rock musician who is murdered while trying to save his fiancée from thugs. He is resurrected by supernatural forces and seeks revenge. The role was originally played by Brandon Lee, who was killed by a freak accident during production in 1993.

This might well be biggest WTF moment in movie news in my recent memory.

Eternus4761d ago (Edited 4761d ago )

Did you see Limitless? Cooper has quite a bit of range. I think he could pull it off.

Quagmire4760d ago

No. Id rather have Cillian Murphy over this douschebag anyday.

JL4760d ago

Cillian Murphy would be a good choice. But I agree with Eternus. Don't count Cooper out. Watch Limitless and he shows he actually has some decent acting chops to him. His "dark/gritty" parts of that movie were well done.

artrexler4760d ago

I wouldn't count Cooper out of this either. I think he's a great actor. It's just what he needs to show off his talent and get into some different stuff. Limitless didn't seem to turn out extrememly well. He's well liked and the movie is a cult classic so maybe this will show higher numbers and get him going a bit more.

Defectiv3_Detectiv34760d ago

I think I just vomitted in my mouth a little.

Soldierone4760d ago

Yeah...I usually follow the whole "give the guy a chance" and you guys even persuaded me with a certain Catwoman...but this....HELL NO.

This just shows Hollywood hardly knows anything about quality film making anymore....He is a great actor for what he does, but The Crow? Come on....Its nothing more than an advertising benefit and we all know it.

Nothing new under the sun. No one asked yet the being made. S/

Well we are officially there, they are remaking remakes. I'm obviously biased but Scarface was perfect, literally perfect, so ahead of it's time and just oozing with 80s culture. Al Pacino was also perfect for the role, when perfect movies with such iconic characters are created, they should be banned from remaking them.

Is A Crow Remake Really Necessary?

The Crow, a much loved cult film starring Brandon Lee (only son of kung fu legend Bruce), is being remade, much to the horror of the movie's die-hard fans.

Based on James O'Barr's cult comic book of the same name, The Crow was only 8 days into shooting when Lee was killed in a stunt gun mishap. Director Alex Proyas, along with the cast and crew were able to finish the film with a script re-write, heroic efforts by Lee's stunt double, Chad Stahelski and the clever utilization of existing footage with CGI effects. It was finally released in 1994 as a tribute to Lee, and has made many a fave film critics list since then.

Now, a new, completely revamped version is in pre-production with release dates in 2019. Set to be directed by English filmmaker Corin Hardy (The Hallow), there is speculation that the vehicle will star Jason Momoa of Stargate Atlantis and Game of Thrones fame. Rumored to be a more faithful (as in darker) adaptation of O'Barr's comic, the film has been in development for more than a decade.

Nope it's not, and usually never is no matter the movie.

Count_Bakula2243d ago

Don't see him as Draven at all. Loved the way Lee spoke. Yet another studio misfire.

BuildTheWall2242d ago

There were multiple people brought back in the comic series including at least one female.

fastNslowww2243d ago

I think he'll do well, he looks the part, especially the eyes.

castdreams2243d ago

Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope

DangerousDAN2243d ago

After the crap sequels they made, maybe it is necessary. They can remake it a thousand, the original is still The OG. I just doubt they can pull off as good of a look that Lee had for that character.

woodtock2242d ago

Hollywood is running out of original ideas for making a franchise......
