First Clip From Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Is Short And Brooding

CinemaBlend says:

UPDATE: Fox and Weta Labs will be premiering even more footage and behind-the-scenes information on Facebook on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time. It'll all be happening, weirdly enough, at the Avatar Facebook page, so remember to look for it there!

Even with Rise of the Planet of the Apes set for an August 5 release, only four months away, Fox has kept the look of the apes under wraps, perhaps waiting to perfect the motion-capture CGI work or maybe just to keep the mystery alive. Those effects are amazing.

QFT. Initially when I heard they were going to be using CGI I was a bit disappointed, the makeup effects in this series were always top notch. This looks better than I could have imagined.

the best cgi is the stuff that doesn't look like it's cgi.

Somebody needs to tie Lucas to a chair, tape his eyelids open 'clockwork orange' style, and make him watch Plunkett's review.

But yeah, I totally agree. CG should be used to augment what is already there, strictly in moderation. Films that rely too much on CG come off as hollow spectacles.

They probably did that to be dail-up friendly.

The effects is what made me finish the trailer, they look simply awesome.
