A Crazy Clip From Super

Comingsoon:

ComingSoon.net and SuperHeroHype.com have your exclusive first look at a crazy new clip from writer/director James Gunn's Super, opening on April 1st. The clip shows Rainn Wilson's character being called to receive his divine marching orders to become a superhero!

In Super, Frank's (Wilson) wife leaves him for a seductive, psychopathic drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), Frank is transformed and the Crimson Bolt is born. With a hand-made suit, a wrench, and a crazed sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page), the Crimson Bolt beats his way through the mean streets of crime in hopes of saving his wife (Liv Tyler). The rules were written a long time ago: You are not supposed to molest children, cut lines or key cars; if you do, prepare to face the wrath of the Crimson Bolt!

How in the hell is that scene going to fit in the film? He has to be tripping on something.

JL4786d ago

Well I think it pretty much explains "how" it fits into the movie pretty much. Clearly all that crazy alien tentacle stuff was his imagination/daydreaming or whatnot as you see him snap out of it there at the end. What exactly is going on is another story.

My guess, he's contemplating becoming a hero and that scene was some type of symbolization of him gaining the "power" to become a superhero in his own mind.

I must have stopped the video short when I watched it cause I did not see the last 2-3 seconds of the vid the first time.

darklordzor4785d ago

Good point there JL, I'm not sure if it's exactly where he decides to be a superhero but it's clearly some sort of daydream. Who knows!

darklordzor4787d ago

Hmmmm....Odd, but I'm still very interested in this film. I am hoping it'll be good, but I'm honestly not holding my breath for anything 'amazing' out of it.

JL4786d ago

I definitely don't expect it to be amazing, but I suspect it could be a real fun movie. I'm definitely curious to see it.

darklordzor4785d ago

That's all I'm hoping for, just something fun to watch but not mind-blowing or genre altering.

I'm holding my breath for this one =]

Why We Love Superheroes

Den of Geek takes an analytical look at why superhero films have become so popular in the last decade and, more intriguingly, why post-modern deconstructions like Kick-Ass are not. There must be a reason that adults desire this 21st century fantasy to be so grounded.

this is a lengthy detailed article about superheroes and their graphic novel source materials, we love super heroes for different reasons, we love them for their colorful personas, shakesperean like tragedies they encounter that molded their ideals. from batman, spiderman, superman and so on, all this superheroes only helps us escape our reality for a moment and let us enter to their world whether gritty fictional city or a more unrealistic new york city we accept everything it offers us, the darker tones we love strengthens the boundaries of realism and fantasy.

I think The Rocketeer is the best one on that list in terms of quality. I also believe there's a reason Mystery Men isn't appreciated.

i dont know about the others in the list but sky high and darkman were above the borderline of mediocrity.
