First Look at Baraka in the Mortal Kombat Digital Series?

Director Kevin Tancharoen has tweeted this new photo from the Vancouver set of the "Mortal Kombat" digital series that could be our first look at Baraka.

The "Mortal Kombat" digital series, starring Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya) and Darren Shahlavi (Kano), is an anthology of multiple live action shorts. Each episode will provide never-before-revealed insights into characters featured in the upcoming videogame as well as the game's universe.

I don't know how they're going to manage to keep this a download only show. I think they'll be able to hit a much wider audience by putting it on some other channel that would allow for violence, swearing and maybe nudity. This is shaping up to be quite the awesome little project though.

Actually this is probably just fine where it's at (on the web). This is going to be one of those things that caters to fanboys and doesn't have a mass appeal. Fanboys are the same ones that are more likely to spend more time watching videos via the internet than they do via cable. Thus this works perfectly fine.

Wish we could see more of the character in this pic though. I might have to check out an episode of this just to see how it goes.

Hmmmm...Interesting. Some of the more recent pics (the scorpion one and this one) seem to be hinting at the more fantastical elements of the story instead of straight realism...which was my main gripe about this show. May have to check this out just to see. I love MK, and even enjoyed the crappy TV show when it was out, so I should at least watch one episode of it.

Ha! Very nice...never really made that connection before, but it did seem that way in rebirth huh?

I've heard now that this webseries is entirely separate from the Rebirth short film, and won't be going the realistic route. Just think of it as a fun fan film, but won't share as much with the series.

I like it, but at the same time doesn't it feel a little ameturish? It has the old movie vibe to it, and im afraid the visual effects are gonna be a little cheesy....Im hoping not, but its looking that way.

There really isnt an excuse for it. I mean Ubisoft has put out some pretty badass short films for their games as marketing tools.

But after playing the demo on PS3.....I cant wait for the series or game to come out!

My thoughts on the series are still up in the air. I'm not entirely optimistic about it. Looks like it could just be some cheesy garbage, but I'll at least check it out.

The game however looks awesome and the demo was very cool. I'm definitely ready for the game to come out. I love that they're taking it back to its roots.
