Theatrical Trailer for The Smurfs

Collider says:

The trailer for Columbia’s 3D family flick The Smurfs has landed online and has no problem using “smurf” as an interchangeable verb. Directed by Raja Gosnell (Beverly Hills Chihuahua), The Smurfs stars Neil Patrick Harris, Glee’s Jayma Mays, Hank Azaria, and voice acting from George Lopez, Jonathan Winters, Alan Cumming, Paul Reubens, Kenan Thompson, and Katy Perry among others. Considering there is a great chance I’m nowhere near the target demographic Columbia is aiming for, I’ll simply say that the trailer makes the film look like it could be a good time for kids a la 2007’s Alvin and the Chimpmunks.

SMURF YA!!! I think I'm mildly excited for this because I grew up watching the Smurfs and recently started putting it on for my daughter when it's Teletoon Retro.

I grew up watching The Smurfs too, but nothing here makes me excited to see it. I really wish they wouldn't have went CGI/Live-action hybrid. Instead it should've just been an animated movie. This looks as bad as those Alvin and the Chipmunk movies.

I'm probably more interested in it because it'll give me something to watch with my daughter and she's interested in something that I liked as a kid.

I'm on the fence. It looks like they're obviously going to "time travel" route here as well as the typical cheap gag route. I'll probably see it if there isn't anything better out that week since the wife will likely want to see them.

This looks like a nightmare I had once.

My sentiments exactly. A Smurfs movie could be awesome, but they appear to have screwed that up. Just like they messed up the Yogi Bear movie last year.

I'm not even going to watch this one. It's more creepy than anything.

Too many kids movies are falling flat lately and this one seems like it'll keep the trend alive.
