I saw this pop up on Netflix a while ago, and with all the praise it was getting I thought what the hell. You know i walked around daily "im not a Star Trek fan I wont watch it" only to be met up with "trust me its nothing like the old ones, its actually good"

So i had my GF over and a few friends, play it. about 45 minutes in my friends are not paying attention, my GF is half asleep, and im like "uhh this sucks" and everyone got excited lol.

To say the least all i ask for is to make Star Trek exciting like Star Wars. I dunno why, but Star Trek has NEVER been able to grasp my attention at all.

My wife is NOT a Trek fan, but she loved this movie. I can't say I'm a "Trekkie" by any stretch but I do enjoy the movies (original cast - Eff Next Gen). JJ Abrams is a god among men.

See people were saying that to me non stop. So i gave it a shot, i like movies so why not. I absolutely cannot sit through it. Visually it was cool, but it was so boring.

I have never ever watched Star Trek, but after I watched this movie on netflix, I wanted more. This movie was awesome and helped give me insight to the history of the show and universe itself.

Sunny - This movie is an "alternate reality" version of Kirk's past. In normal Trek lore, Kirk's father did not die. Though he did cheat to beat the Kobiashi Maru test as evidenced in Star Trek 2. I strongly recommend you check out the remainder of the original cast movies and pay close attention to what JJ did as a wink to fans and to still stay true to the story that Roddenberry created.

Oh wow, I didn't realize we were watching an alternate version. I guess I have much to watch up on if I want to follow the series. I just hope I don't become too nerdy. ;)

Naw - theres a real correlation between the original series and the new one. Trust me. Watch them and we'll have a good long chat on MSN or have you as a guest on mt website for a PodCast.

I have some minor knowledge of the new movie due to a friend who is working on a project that is related to this series. When I can, I'll reveal a little more but I CAN say that I'll be seeing this project sooner than later and may well get a scoop on it in the next little while.

Sunny_D4805d ago

OOHHH, that's interesting. You have friends in high places, when you get the scoop, make sure I'm the 1st one on it, alright? ;D

Crazay4805d ago

Not such a high place but let's say he's an animator.

I haven't even seen the first one. Never liked Star Trek stuff. I did hear it turned out pretty decent though.

It's something I probably won't see for years.

You're missing out fella. No joke. At least check out the most recent one.
