Hell Descent: The first movie adaptation of the Resident Evil series came to theaters in 2002, written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. The following sequels Apocalypse and Extinction had Anderson step down as director but remain the screenplay writer. While the movie series has been a departure from the Resident Evil game’s story, the very first film was a pretty good thriller. Even though it didn’t take place in the Spencer Mansion, it stood very close to the games and remained original. The following films progressively moved farther from the source material, and we were left with star of the film Alice (Milla Jovovich) becoming a super telekinetic fighter. Extinction had just passed the border of ridiculousness.
The 4th film in the Resident Evil movie saga has been released, and I felt like it deserved to be reviewed. Usually it’s “third time’s the charm”, but in this case, it’s the fourth time.
