'I’m hardly the kind of person who’ll go out first day to see whatever new period drama about aristocracy, royalty and the upper classes has been launched in cinemas, I’m not all that interested in that stuff, it’s not a subject that fascinates, but sometimes there are films which would seem to slot easily into the aforementioned area, and yet have chosen to evolve, progress and become something a whole lot more than any others of the heritage genre released around the same time (I should be careful here, I am writing this off the back of a 2.5 K essay on the genre). Like Atonement before it, The King’s Speech is one such of those.'
