Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will be bringing Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere to DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download on April 19, 2011. Sofia Coppola is an Academy Award-winning writer/director. Her drama Somewhere won a Best Picture award at last year’s Venice International Film Festival. The critically-acclaimed movie stars Stephen Dorff, Elle Fanning and Chris Pontius in an affecting and witty story about celebrity and parenting. Chris Pontius is going to be in an actual film other than Jackass?! This is AWESOME news.
Elle Fanning is one of the more popular child actors currently too right? I haven't seen her act in anything yet. Totally watching this.
I just can't see Chris Pontius doing anything other than Bunny Lifeguard or Party Boy. Not sure I'll watch this one but it's pretty cool to hear about Pontius breaking from his Jackass mold.
CB - I had the pleasure of talking to Stephen Dorff a few months ago about another film, but all he wanted to talk about was Sophia Coppola’s Somewhere. Ever since, I’ve been particularly anxious to see the film that he said set a new standard for him and now the time has finally come and Somewhere is hitting theaters.

The Sofia Coppola-directed Somewhere has won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. The film, which stars Stephen Dorff, Michelle Monaghan, and Benicio Del Toro, won by unanimous decison of a jury headed by Quentin Tarantino. Focus Features releases the film in the U.S.
Honestly shocked to see a perfect score here. For the most part, the reviews I've been reading haven't been very positive at all. Maybe I'll have to give this one a chance after all.
