Wow...if it weren't for Back to the Future and the Alien Anthology, this would be one of the saddest release weeks we've had in a long time. Not a whole lot I can see to get excited about here, outside of the things people have been waiting for. No real surprises...

JL4930d ago

Never cared for the Alien franchise myself. I will possibly get around to getting Back to the Future on a later date.

But come on, no love for at least Winter's Bone? Or The Girl Who Played with Fire? I'm absolutely getting both of those.

Soldierone4930d ago

Im a fan of movies like that, but neither of them really have any interest built up inside me. Good quality movies , no offense to them, just im personally not interested. At least they are better than Alien lol.

JL4930d ago

I've heard such great things about Winter's Bone that I just have to give it a try. As for The Girl Who Played with Fire, I really enjoyed the first one, so I got to at least give the second one a try.

darklordzor4930d ago (Edited 4930d ago )

Sorry no love for those two films. I mean, they aren't bad, but they aren't exactly exciting to me either. I've seen them, and probably wouldn't mind having them, but as far as "oh man I just gotta have those" excitement...not so much.

Oh and I'm not huge on the Alien franchise either, but overall it's a good series. And I have to get BTTF tomorrow.

JL4930d ago

See there's the thing, I've never seen either of them or I probably wouldn't want to get them. That's one of my things: I rarely rent movies, instead I just go buy them. Though most likely one of the two I mentioned will end up being a rental and buy Back to the Future instead.

Soldierone4930d ago

Im not rich so i cant buy all the films released lol.

However I also rent based on moral grounds too. If I dont see it in theaters ill check it out first, if its a quality movie then ill buy it and give it props. I hate giving money to horrible films, that makes them make more horrible films.

JL4930d ago

lol I'm far from rich too. In fact, I still have no idea how I support my DVD "addiction". As for the problem of avoiding buying horrible movies, I think going into buying a movie I pretty much know if it's going to be horrible. Granted I've got suckered into a few here and there, but I wouldn't say I've bought horrible movies on a regular basis or anything. I only buy those that I know I'll at least moderately enjoy. If I'm iffy about it, I will rent it. I exaggerate on the renting-vs-buying a bit. While I don't have Netflix or anything like that, RedBox does get quite a bit of money from me as well.

Soldierone4930d ago

Yeah I see what you are saying. To be honest, Im also an offender of not buying some movies thanks to renting lol. Netflix keeps me occupied so I dont buy as much as I used too. In fact my Blu-ray collection probably hasn't been touched since Zombieland, luckily I bought that before it hit netflix haha

darklordzor4930d ago

I am not a renter. I hate renting movies. If I want to watch it, I'd rather just buy it. That being said, I'd never have any money if I did that all the time, so Netflix has finally started getting used. Though I still buy more movies than I ever watch on the service.

JL4930d ago

Same as me. Most of the time I'd just rather buy then rent. Unless I'm not sure about the movie I'll typically buy it. Of course, doing that all the time I would be broke so RedBox gets some business from me, but it's a very small percentage of my movie money in comparison to what I buy.

darklordzor4930d ago

See that's the thing for me, even if I'm not sure about it...I'll still buy it. I can always return it if I don't like it, but most of the time I hang on to it.

This is a lame week. At least I havent bought Romeo and Juliet from last week so ill watch that. Plus some others like Robin Hood, so this wont bother me much.

JL4930d ago

I bought Robin Hood when it came out....have still yet to watch it all though. I watched like 15minutes of it and it could not get my attention at all really so I ended up cutting it off and going to bed. Guess I might have to revisit it and give it another shot.

darklordzor4930d ago

Yeah, it's not exactly an attention getter in the beginning. It's got some great moments worth watching though.

Soldierone4930d ago

Its probably the best summer film I watched this year, other than Inception. The story develops well and its gets interesting. Ill admit the begining is really boring to start the film.

JL4930d ago

Hmm...and here I heard so much crap about that movie. Might have to give it a chance again here this week sometime.

darklordzor4930d ago

Yeah I heard nothing but bad things about it as well. In a Summer that was actually pretty decent, I wouldn't classify Robin Hood among the best. Is it worth watching? Definitely, but I wouldn't put it in the Summer's best.
