Top DVD Sales and Rentals for Week Ending October 17th, 2010

Rentrak Corporation (Nasdaq: RENT), today announced the top ten DVD sales and rentals for the prior week based on estimated consumer spending.

According to the company’s Retail Essentials and Home Video Essentials tracking services, the top ten selling DVDs and the top ten most-rented motion pictures, per data collected for the week ending October 17, 2010 include How to Train Your Dragon, The Karate Kid and Iron Man 2.

Don't think this list is suprising at all. How to Train your Dragon is an excellent movie thats getting the praise it deserves. Iron Man 2 doesn't deserve to be on the list, but yeah its marketed and liked so to me it wasn't suprising either.

You're right, there aren't any real surprises here on this list. Marketing plays a big factor, so I'm not shocked at Iron Man 2 being on there, or even Karate Kid (though I really liked that one). Too bad there wasn't an indie film that made some big waves.

You liked Karate Kid? I think it completely missed the point of the original films. The originals were about fear and overcoming it etc...this one was like all about fighting and other non-sense.

Karate kid wasn't that good. I am actually surprised that Jackie Chan would take the job, since the script is just plain retarded.

Jackie Chan is on his downhill struggle. He will have a few good films in the canister still and after that he wont be appearing too much, unless its cameo's or something of that nature.
