Johnny Depp Wants Rob Marshall to Direct Him in a Thin Man Remake

Vulture hears that Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has been aggressively courting his Pirates 4 director Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha) to direct him once again in a remake of The Thin Man at Warner Bros. It'd be a fitting follow-up to Depp's turn as the rum-soaked Captain Jack Sparrow: The famous detective novel by Dashiell Hammett centers on Nick Charles who — after marrying wealthy, young socialite Norah — gives up a career as a hard-boiled gumshoe to become a semi-professional alcoholic and full-time trophy husband.

This film would be rather interesting with Depp involved. I am not sure entirely what he see;s Marshall could bring to the project, but its interesting none the less.

Agreed. Not sure about the whole Marshall thing, but Depp in this role could be very interesting indeed. It's almost a "Leaving Las Vegas" meets "Sherlock Holmes". Hmm...I could definitely go for seeing Depp do this.

I'm just a Depp fan in general, and he's one of the few actors I will just go to see a movie for. So undoubtedly I'll be sure to see this one, but it's already sounding pretty interesting.
