With Paranormal Activity coming out this weekend, Saw next weekend, and several big names coming after that. I don't think a film like this will do well. It has no marketing and nobody knows what it is, why waste money on it instead of these other big names?

It kinda missed the perfect time to release by like a week.

You seem to have hit the nail on the head there. The marketing for this film just hasn't really been there, and what we have is often confusing and doesn't give enough information on what the film is actually about. Unfortunately I see this slipping under the radar and not making a big splash. I love Eastwood's films and really am excited about seeing this one, but I don't know how many others will be there in the theater with me...Hopefully I'll still be able to hear it over the screams coming from the theaters beside me.

Its kind of odd that an Eastwood film is getting this week to launch and isn't getting any marketing. Youd think a big name like that, especially after a stellar movie last year, would get better treatment. Then again his films seem to be succesful when they hit DVD/Blu-ray anyways.

Yeah I really would have thought he'd get a little more attention for this film. You know I didn't even know this film existed until I saw a commercial on TV. Normally we hear about things a lot sooner than that (with the internet and all). Then again I can't say that I remember a big marketing campaign for Gran Turino either.

Gran Torino didn't have a big marketing push till after it was released. However I saw stuff for it at Comic Con or something like that, so I thought it was bigger.

I saw a trailer for this film on TV for the first time ever though, it actually looks really interesting. I might check it out with the girlfriend tomorrow.

After the reviews and fan reaction to this film, I think this estimate is right for opening weekend, but i think the drop off will be even bigger. I think it will make around 10 million this weekend, then 5 or 6 next, then just disapear from box office. It merely came out at the wrong time, a time for Halloween movies, and has absolutely no marketing push behind it. Kinda sad to see this, but its not doing well.

I think it will be made up when it releases on DVD though, just like all Eastwood films.
