Robert Rodriguez Says ‘Sin City 2′ Will Be His Next After ‘Spy Kids 4′

ThePlaylist: "Fans of "Sin City" and its long-awaited sequel should tentatively rejoice. In a Facebook livechat that took place this afternoon (October 10 from 1pm-2pm EST), director Robert Rodriguez said that "Sin City 2" would be the follow-up film after "Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World."

"Frank Miller and I are working on it," Rodriguez said, with one caveat."It's slated to be the next one, but if the script is not ready, then we'll have to move to the next one," he said, not elaborating on what that the other "next one "would be. However, asked in the chat later about the Mexico-set sci-fi film, "Nervewracker" (he stressed the singular, not plural though the film has been known as "Nervewrackers") he said that project is "still going to happen," though he did not put a timeframe on it."

Sin City was different. I liked the whole production and direction of photography. I know I won't be disappointed with this one

Sin City was creative, its just not unique anymore in a world full of Sin City wannabe's. They created the whole "comics come to life" feel and gave movies that new twist visually. However there are complete rip offs, and people pushing it in other areas. So it will be hard to achieve that same feel.

That and going from Spy Kids to this, that kinda scares me....

I can't believe he's going to make another Spy Kids first. With all of the fans who've been clamoring for this sequel for years, this feels kind of a rip to them. Oh well, I guess we should be grateful that he's at least giving everyone some sort of time frame. I think they'll handle the visuals just fine. Most of Sin City's visual appeal wasn't just in the graphics or effects, but in the story itself and how they presented it.

Its has to be a budget thing. Studio walks in "make us a sure money grabber, we use that money to fund something bigger for you." He walks away with a Spy Kids script and a few bucks to make it. Few months later "Spy Kids 4 makes big bank!" lol

I think the whole Spy Kids is also part of Rodriguez's decision. From what I've heard/understood, he started that franchise really so he could finally make something for his kids.
