Based loosely on the medieval tale "The Scarlet Letter", "Easy A" sees a young girl confront rotten high school rumours in a way no one would have guessed.
Olive (Emma Stone) is a model student who goes through life barely noticed by her peers. That's until a rumour is spread around campus that she slept with a college student. Instead of trying to redeem her former "virgin" status, she decides to enhance the rumours by turning herself into a bonafide "girl for hire".
The film appears on surface level to be yet another cliche teenage romp flick, but there is a sweet innocence about the film that speaks of doing the right thing even if it doesn't seem right at the time.
Also starring Thomas Haden Church, Lisa Kudrow, Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson.
