Lee Toland Krieger, the filmmaker behind the indie "The Vicious Kind," has come aboard to direct "The Spectacular Now," an adaptation of a coming-of-age novel by Tim Tharp.
Tom McNulty is producing the project, with 21 Laps also involved.
"Spectacular" initially was billed as a reunion of the creative team behind "(500) Days of Summer" when it was set up at Fox Searchlight, with Marc Webb attached to direct and Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber writing the script.
