The Vanishing on 7th Street Trailer

Brad Anderson (The Machinist) returns to territory that put him on the genre map with the supernatural Vanishing on 7th Street, although the subject matter looks wildly divergent than his horror debut, the quiet and creepy Session 9.

Vanishing was accepted into the Toronto International Film Festival and we've got your very first look at the trailer for the film starring Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo. This one tells of a group of survivors who wake up to find their community has completely disappeared after a global blackout. They hole up in a bar to defend themselves from a dark menace.

Looks like it may be interesting. Though also looks like it could border on the "same old crap we see over and over again, just recycled in a different way" as well. But I've enjoyed the two other Brad Anderson movies I've seen Machinist and Transsiberian. He can have a decent knack for suspense and thriller at times when he wants. Should be interesting to see more on this maybe. Though it's looking like it could end up heading the "generic" route. And I do not like Thandie for some reason. I don't know why, just something about her gets under my skin.
