NY Timeout: A man held hostage in a phone booth (remember those?) by a sniper…sounds stiflingly high-concept, doesn’t it? Yet Joel Schumacher, of all people, makes the most of the improbable premise’s spatial limitations; you feel like you’re stuck inside that cramped glass case alongside Colin Farrell, unable to move without risking a bullet to the brain.
Final Destination is a reminder of our mortality.
‘It Follows’ still lurks.
The Parenting Review: It starts off as a fun horror-comedy with a great cast, but loses its charm halfway through. The laughs fade, the scares feel predictable, and by the end, it’s just another forgettable haunted house story.
