Production on the fourth entry into the very successful 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchse has started, and a new press release from Disney gives a hint at new plot details.
This is a pretty enjoyable franchise but I'm not too sure what to think of a 4th installment. It makes me thing there might be a 5th and so on. But who am I kidding, I'll still watch it!
They have kicked around the idea of having this be the start of a new trilogy, but I really hope they don't. Like you I'll still go watch them, but I think it should go away before it gets stale.
Shame that Verbinski isn't returning but Marshall has a good track record for visuals and strong choreography. Let's hope the can keep the energy up and won't change the formula. Being a character driven piece, backdropped by the amazing locales, he shouldn't have a problem.
Psyched to see Ian McShane as Blackbeard! That's gonna rock!
I will really miss Verbinski, he had a good knack for the subtle things, which I feel made the first films great. I'm interested to see what this new crew can do though.
Whoah! This totally caught me off gaurd. Rob Marshall... interesting. Let's hope he's learned something from catastrophe that was NINE.
