Mania: Universal’s handling of their classic monsters has been inconsistent at best. They’ve produced outstanding Legacy Collections showcasing their horror films of the 1930s and 1940s but their modern revamps have left a lot to be desired. 1999’s “The Mummy” was more of an Indiana Jones style adventure than a horror film and people are still trying to figure out the mess that was “Van Helsing”. But for the first time, Universal has fully embraced the classic monster heritage with their new take on The Wolfman, made famous by Lon Chaney Jr. in 1941.
