The New York Times: "A little over a week ago, the movie business got its eagerly sought permission to activate technology to protect new releases from being copied if they were sold through video-on-demand systems before being issued on DVD.
Now comes the hard part: finding a studio brave enough to risk war with theater owners by trying it."
They worked so hard to get the approval for it, now they're all too afraid to jump in first. I guess I can't blame them, when theater chains are threatening to not play any film with a simultaneous VOD showing. Maybe they just need to keep things the way they are.
