"Back in January we got the somewhat unsettling rumor that there may very well be a Gremlins sequel on the way taking advantage of the 3-D craze taking over the film industry. However, since that rumor came from the consistently unreliable MarketSaw, we took it with a huge grain of salt. And now it looks like that reputation has only been reaffirmed as Empire caught up with series director Joe Dante who said any talk of a Gremlins sequel in 3-D were blown out of proportion thanks to the wonder of the internet. However, the director does elaborate, almost cautiously, that a remake or reboot of the horror comedy might still be likely."
