Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is in negotiations with Fox to helm X-Men: First Class, a prequel that would re-tell the origins of comic book characters Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, Jean Grey, Angel, Professor X, and Magneto.
Vaughn’s name surfaced last week when Deadline reported he was in talks with the studio to direct another costumed hero movie, but those discussions fell through by Thursday. Fox even started scheduling meetings with other names on its short list, including Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted), Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans), David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash) and Carl Rinsch (the upcoming 47 Ronin).

The Prince of Wales gave an ultimatum, but this won't be his legacy.
TNS: "The Joker's second outing can't be saved by musical charm, with Joker: Folie à Deux resulting in a boring bow to mediocrity."
