My problem with this character is how she came about in the first place. Marvel kills off Captain Marvel (the man) and literally just gives Ms. Marvel his title to push this whole women empowerment thing the world is pushing. If they really want this character to be taken seriously or liked, they should have wrote her in a way where she branches out on her own WITHOUT having to take a man's legacy and without the agenda behind it.
Hard to take the whole female lead thing seriously in this character's case because they're using a man's legacy to do it.
But again, this is just my opinion.
