That's a stupid thing to regret. He should regret not having a higher quality staff I guess (haven't seen it yet) but the race and gender of the writers is inconsequential.

I think the issue was there were a lot of female characters in the film, but not many female writers writing for them.
Result is women characters not acting in a way women would.
Not saying this was the reason why the film was a flop, but if you have to write for female characters, it would help if you had some female input.
