Why Netflix's The End Of The F***ing World Is Detrimental For Women

For those who are unfamiliar with the name, The End of the F***ing World is a series that is expected to be released soon on Netflix. It is centered around a pair of teenagers named James and Alyssa, who are played by Alex Lawther and Jessica Barden. James is a self-diagnosed psychopath who is planning to kill Alyssa, while Alyssa is the teenage rebel who happens to be infatuated with him. Overall, The End of the F***ing World is supposed to be a darker sort of comedy, but in spite of this fact, one can't help but feel that it is sending a message that will prove to be rather detrimental for relationships.

You thought Dexter was telling people to become serial killers, didn't you?

windblowsagain2301d ago

Just looks stupid.

Dexter is crap as well.

Why do people bother coming up with this stuff and even watching it? Might as well make dumb stuff like:

a seriel killer series dark theme, but as a romantic pony! "oooh ya see its a twist, and not the norm, I should watch that oooo!!"

A series staring real life bugs...but its a comedy and they are all alcholics! "AHhH its gonna be the best show ever, drunk bugs! ya see its something un heard of and out of teh norm, das how you know its gonna be good!"

A super hero series but misogynistic ".....WTF booooo!"

How can a work of fiction be detrimental to anyone? You'd have to be pretty F***ing stupid to believe that.

Don’t underestimate the power of the media. It definitely influences young girls. Ever heard of the Kardashian’s?

Research link please?

I don't like the Kardashians either, but I'm not going to bitch about them.

It's a work of fiction. People should parent their children better and let them know that what they see in film, read in books, and play in games isn't indicative of real life. The creators don't owe you and your children role models. Stop being so entitled.

I don't see how other people need to be robbed of choices for entertainment because of a couple of idiots who didn't know better, or because they don't like he premise.

You have a choice. Don't watch it.

You haven't even seen it yet. It could offer some excellent commentary on relationships as a black comedy.

Yes women face problems with abusive relationships in real life, but you're not going to make real problems go away by treating the issue like all religious organisations do because we see that's been a great success.
