That they even pretended to kill the man in black was kind of insulting given everything about the character. Movie should have ended with Roland putting a bullet in Jake to stop him from breaking the tower. That would have at least been thematically similar to the books.
I never read the books, but this movie looks interesting. I'm not really sure what it's about though from the trailers.
